Reflection on King Arthur Presentation

From this presentation, I learned that we should have included a lot more information. I made a mistake, and focused on another criteria. I should have talked about what happened to the Excalibur later, what it was used for, and presented more information about the excalibur. I felt like Dylan and Phoebe's Presentation was very well planned and presented. I liked the way they used prezi, and I also like their detailed and thorough. Although they had a lot of information, they still had it well organized. If I could do another presentation like this, I would use Dylan and Phoebe's as an example, and as a guide on how to improve. I also how Vivian and Samuel connected the round table with other events such as the wedding! That made the presentation make sense, and it got our interest. This is how I would improve if I had another chance.

My Hero - Nancy Zuch

Nancy Zuch is my hero because she had contributed greatly to the young cancer patients. She gave a childhood to many young cancer patients by making a preschool just for young cancer patients, and made life enjoyable and happy for young cancer patients in their childhood. Taking care of young cancer patients is hard, but Nancy Zuch is always happy when she sees a real smile on the kids. What she did touched my heart deeply... I admire her passion for taking care of others, which aren't seen a lot in people now days. This is where I discovered my hero; Nancy Zuch: http://edition.cnn.com/2012/02/16/us/cnnheroes-zuch-morgan-center/index.html.

Traits of Hero

In my opinion, a hero is simply a person that you admire. For example, someone might think Hitler is a great hero, or someone might think their mom is a hero simply because they like and admire them. For me, I think that my mother-side's grandpa is a hero, he fought in WW2 and tells me stories of him fighting in the war, and getting shot in the back, I admire that a lot. Little kids might think a person like wonder woman is a heroin because they admire her. That's all I think about heroes, so if you think that someone is a hero, he... IS a hero.

Qualities of Legendary people

Look at the legends of King Arthur or Robin Hood, they both had different traits. But have you ever thought about the future legends? Who might they be and what traits might they have? Well, I think Justin Bieber would be one of the legendary people, I think he will be known for having the power to sing badly but still make everyone happy, and earn lots of money. Maybe Steve Jobs will become a legend too, in that future legend, maybe he will be able to make an apple product in a simple click on the mouse. I believe that the qualities that might turn someone into legend are being a cool topic to talk about, well known, and different from others. Firstly, if you are a cool topic to talk about between random people, you and your traits gets spread quickly, and these traits will also change a little by little and eventually get exaggerated. Secondly, if you are well known, everyone knows you and your traits, so stories about you will eventually get partly made up, becoming a legend. Lastly, if you are different from others, you are very likely to be noticed and to be made up into stories. These are the qualities I believe will make a person become a legend.

Remember, don't...

"Remember, don't leave the house after dark" was something I often heard my parents say when they're leaving for a long business trip. If I never obeyed my this rule, I COULD HAVE been kidnapped or robbed when wondering around the dark streets. But I remember this caution and obey it. "Remember, don't make friends in the internet" was another thing my mom often said to me. I obeyed, and still obey this rule my mom had taught me. You never know if a person is good or bad when you're on the internet. They might seem like a good person to you, but you never know... If I had made friends randomly on the internet, I could have been tricked into deals that they make, like letting me earn money by showing them certain things, and having those things ending up on the internet where everyone has access to. Or I could have been tricked into attending parties but actually get kidnapped or threatened at a random place (not a party). Those two statements are often heard in my house, but again, the examples I made are just about the worst things that can happen to you... Ha Ha!

Superheros

There are two types of superheros. First, there are Superman, Wonder Woman, Spider Man, and Batman type of heroes. Second, there are heroes like Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King Jr., and Gandhi. There are many differences between them. The Superman type of heroes are not realistic, they only appear in comics or movies. Also, the Superman type of heroes have their own unique super powers such as flying, transporting, or things like lifting extremely heavy objects. However, real heroes are people like Rosa Parks, who stood up for the rights of African Americans. They are real people that exists/once existed, real people who had contributed to society. Real-life heroes have sacrificed for people, even though they're doing what is right they sometimes even end up in jail or killed. Unlike in superhero stories, the heroes always live and the bad guys always loose and die/get punished. Although real-life heroes are very different than superheroes, they also have similarities between them. Both real-life heroes and superheroes are known to be trusted, liked, and honored.

If we couldn't fly...

If we couldn't fly, then we won't be able to get to other countries within 24 hours and we won't be able to go up Himalayas on a helicopter. Flying is very important in our lives, if we couldn't fly, then if I had to travel to Canada for a business trip, I'd have to travel for weeks to get there. Airplanes, helicopters, hot air balloons, parachutes, etc. are all very useful for both entertainment and work. You might think that flying is not a necessary thing, we can just travel on boats or ships across seas. However, it also helps countries become more advanced, whenever a new technology is invented, we can get our hands on one and develop even more advanced technology in 24 hours.

Below is a picture of a lot of ways we fly:

Music

Music inspires me a lot. Sometimes when I'm angry, certain types of music can calm me down. When I sing songs with lyrics that let's out anger, somehow I let out my anger and later I'll just find myself singing the song like nothing had happened. When I listen to music or songs, I like to listen to the lyrics, what it's saying and what it means. Every time I listen to good songs with meaningful lyrics, the lyrics seem to pop out like a poem and inspire me with whatever it's singing/saying. I like quite a lot of people's music/songs, for example, I like Adele's strong voice in her songs and her passion. And that makes me think we should work (especially teamwork) with passion. This is how music inspires me. :)

The Seasons in Taiwan

Taiwan is a place near the equator. It's burning hot in the summer, but windy and cold in the winter. Winters in Taiwan isn't really cold when you look at the temperature, but when you stand at your door, you'll feel the wind that chills your bones. There's usually occasional times where it's warm in the winter, but otherwise, it's mostly windy in Hsinchu, Taiwan. I can't really tell the difference between spring and fall in Taiwan. It looks the same, same traffic and same crazy drivers. But I do have a question about seasons... Why are there so many typhoons in the summer? There weren't ANY typhoons last summer probably because of global warming and weird climate changes, but usually there are a LOT of typhoons in Taiwan's summer, and I really do sometimes wonder WHY... WHY??? WHY??????????

TED Talk - Billy Collins' 5 poems in motion

After I have seen all 5 poems in motion, I think that the animations and poems from the videos were all very interesting and creative. One that I think is especially creative in the animation is "Budapest". It shows how Billy Collins writes, and how he likes to pretend that his writings come with ease even though writing is not as easy as shown in the video for Billy Collins. The poem/poem in motion that I liked most was Forgetfulness. Although it's video was not all that interesting and creative, it was a cool animation where books or things start appearing white and blank to him, and he starts forgetting things. I can easily find myself in the same situation as Billy Collins in the poem in motion "forgetfulness". A lot of times I read a book, then I forget completely about it until I finish part of the book. Sometimes I also find myself very forgetful about things. This moment, I could be walking out my room knowing that I'm in desperate need of something. Then the next moment, I could be out my room think what I was wanting to get from somewhere outside of my room... I really liked Billy Collins' poems, and with the animation, it gives me a clearer image of what he's talking about. He is a creative guy, and certainly a good poet.

Fame

I agree with the statement. The famous statement means that even when you become famous, you're taking the chance of becoming a nobody. When you are famous, you will think about all the good days, and you won't work as hard. THEN, you face the danger of becoming a nobody because people might start seeing your lazy side and stop supporting you. So there are many privileges and pitfalls of fame. First, a privilege of fame is that you earn a lot of money, and everyone supports you when you want to speak. But a pitfall of fame is that you face the danger of becoming a nobody in a second and drop suddenly to an a lot lower level. When you're nobody, there's a chance everyday that you will improve and become famous (to rise to a higher level; to feel good), but if you're famous, there's a chance everyday that you will make a mistake and become nobody suddenly (to drop to a lower level; to feel bad) This is what I think about fame, and here are the privileges and pitfalls of fame.

What is a Haiku Poem?

Haiku poems are a type of poem from Japan. A haiku poem is usually made out of 3 lines only, but sometimes, it is made out of many stanzas of 3 lines. In every Haiku poem, the first line has 5 syllables, 7 syllables in the second line, and 5 in the third too. But if the poem is longer, the same pattern repeats in the next stanza. There may or may not be any rhyming of words in a haiku poem, most people use end rhymes in haiku poems, but some people don't. Below are some examples of haiku poems I got from the internet.

An example of a long haiku poem:
Powdered sugared pines
Red berries in furry caps
Landscapes transforming

Snow Angel canvas
Fragile lazer-cut crystals
Glorious quiet

Brightly shining fields
Soft gifts from Heaven on tongues
Earth's winter fur coat

An example of a short haiku poem:
Falling to the ground
I watch a leaf settle down
In a bed of brown

This is basically what haiku poems are.

Cultural Difference Experience

Once I went to Australia and lived with a homestead family, they cooked everyday to eat, and once they decided to cook rice since they thought I would like to eat something I'm used to. So they cooked fried rice and gave me chopsticks. So then, I picked the bowl up and starting eating it like the person eating rice in the picture below...

Suddenly, I noticed that everyone at the table started looking at me eating rice. I stopped and looked back at them. Then after a while of awkward silence, the girl Simone, about the same age as me asked me if that was how we ate in Taiwan... Then I understood, it was because the way I ate my rice that they stared at me. Anyways, I told her that usually when we eat, we pick the bowl up and eat to prove what the person cooked was delicious, and that I liked it. After this confusion, their family tried picking their bowl up and eating the way I did. But some of their rice ended up all over their clothes. And I thought to myself, is it really that hard to eat with the bowl in their hands?

Genetic Experiment - A Cheeturake

The picture above is an animal species i want to create, it is called the "cheeturake". I will genetically combine cheetahs with turtles and snakes. This way, this animal will have the speed of cheetahs, the shell or shield of turtles, and the deadly and poisonous bite of snakes. I believe this species of animals was really created, the animal will have a big snake head, strong cheetah legs, and a hard bullet proof turtle shell combined together as one. This animal will be very deadly if it was real, it would give an animal a deadly bite, swallow the whole animal body, and run away. And if people are after it and it's still not fast enough, it can duck into it's turtle shell and protect itself from the attack. This creation would cause many animals to go extinct I believe, and it might reproduce with some animal and make more of the kind. At last, maybe they will be ruling the world, and no other human or other animal would be alive on the planet Earth. Cheeturake is a protected, fast, and deadly animal, check under your bed tonight just in case a cheeturake is planning to murder you at night... (just kidding)

Justice and Revenge...

So what is Justice and what is Revenge? And how are they alike and different? Today this post will answer your questions... Justice and Revenge are two very similar words that basically means "to get even with something or someone". Both of the words are used when someone is wanting to get even with their opponents usually by harming or hurting the others with violence. But what is the difference between justice and revenge? Well, in my opinion, wanting "revenge" is usually what bad guys want. And wanting"justice" is usually what good people want. Why? Because wanting revenge is like wanting to slap a monkey back with your own hands after the monkey had slapped you, just because you think the monkey deserves a slap. But wanting justice is just wanting to be treated equally after the monkey had slapped you and not get treated unfairly. These are the reasons why justice and revenge are alike and different.

Bill Cosby - Dentist

The reason I chose to share this video here is because I really like how he uses his humor to express his feelings and thoughts about dentists. I chose this video because I felt that I was connected to his character in this video when he talked about how he feels about dentists, I have the same impressions of dentists as he describes in this video. Just like Bill Cosby, I don't like dentists, the dentists tell you they're going to blow a little bubble in your mouth while holding a a huge gun with a needle sticking out of it, and they tell you they're about to clean our teeth with a special toothbrush while holding a sharp metal object. This is why I chose to post this video.
